Merry Christmas!

It's Christmas Eve, and 2010 is nearing its end.  God has really back-loaded the calendar for us.

This afternoon we will be heading to Lincoln to celebrate a birthday and Christmas Eve.  Today is Kelly's Mom's birthday, so it should be a very special day for Baba with her grandson.  We'll go to church with Baba and Grampo (Scott) at 4:00pm, then head to their home for some potato soup and gifts.  We'll then head over to Bill and Jodell's house and spend Christmas Eve and Christmas morning at Nana and Papa's.  Next Wednesday we drive to Colorado for a few days with Nanny and Pops and Coen's aunts and uncles.  It's sure to be a busy time, but hopefully the car rides will be spattered with peace and quiet.  Even though our families are spread out by 60 to 560 miles, we know with my job we could've been much farther away from everybody.  We're thankful it's just a quick flight or a day in the car to see family.

Coen is really turning into a rambunctious little guy.  He enjoys laying on his play-mat and touching the hanging rattles/toys.  He LOVES staring at our mouth-movements.  So if you ever see us spitting at him, don't take it the wrong way.  His favorite time is the morning when he is getting changed into his play clothes.  He smiles the entire time, and provides us with our most enjoyable 15 minutes of the day.  Today was extra special, as Mom put on his brand new Christmas outfit.  The pictures are below.

God has truly blessed us with our only son.
But most of all, we thank God for giving us His.

Merry Christmas.

Matt

Morning of December 24th.
Time to get ready for Christmas Eve.

Okay, Mom... let's get on with it!

Why am I laying here half-naked?  Put some clothes on me!

First the onesie.

Then a quick sneeze.

Now it's time for my new Christmas shirt!
Take a picture, chump.  It'll last longer.  Wait... that's what you're doing.

You again.

Check out my new Christmas vest and khakis!

Maybe I will like this thing!

Christmas: Round 1

Last weekend was a busy one for the Schick family.  On Friday night we celebrated Christmas in Omaha with Coen's Great-Grandma Barb.  This is Scott's Mom.  Coen also met a lot of new people and saw a lot of new faces.  He was such a good little guy and had a great time.

On Saturday we traveled to Lincoln for Christmas with Jan.  Jan is also Coen's Great-Grandma.  She is Scott's step-mom.  There were a few more new faces, lots of delicious food and Coen did great.  We were amazed that he managed to sleep through all of the gift opening.  It was quite loud!

As we opened gifts and watched Coen sleep, Matt and I were discussing how next Christmas will be quite different.  Chances are that we won't be sitting down for long as Coen will be a busy little guy by then!

Coen has been very sleepy today as he recovers from his busy weekend.  We are praying he's this quiet when he attends church for the first time on Christmas Eve!

I love my monkey hat!!

Being so good during dinner.

So exhausted!

A new friend!

It was an inside joke!

2 Month Check-Up

Today, Coen is 7 weeks old!  We can't believe how quickly the time has gone...and how fast he is growing!  In the past month alone he has grown one inch and gained 3 pounds.  He's now up to 12 pounds, 5 ounces.  We were dreading this appointment and the 2 month shots, but the shots have been postponed a couple of weeks.  Mommy and Coen were relieved about this.  Well, I was.  Coen had no idea what was coming.

The doctor and nurses love Coen and say he is a very healthy little guy.  He is now in the 75th percentile for head circumference and weight and is still in the 50th percentile for length.  Matt is a little worried that Coen is going to be like his Daddy: a really chubby kid with a huge head.  We both LOVE his chubby cheeks though.

I have had to box up all of Coen's newborn-size clothes and am learning to try things on him constantly before he outgrows them.  We bought him the sweetest little outfit for Thanksgiving, and when I put it on him this morning it was way too small.  The label said it fits babies up to 23 inches...but that's definitely not the case!

Coen is now smiling a lot and we really enjoy seeing him so happy. He had another big milestone this week when he learned to roll over.  He was laying down for some tummy time and rolled right over!  The look on his face showed that he was just as surprised as we were.

We are getting so excited to celebrate Coen's first Christmas next week.  And then Coen will make his first roadtrip to Colorado at the end of the month.  Matt and I are praying he does well in the car for 8 hours or that could be a long day!

Thanks for stopping by our blog!

Little Peanut

When Matt and I first saw Coen's ultrasound picture, we thought he looked like a little peanut.

Now he has the perfect shirt.

Fun With Dad

Recently, Mom went grocery shopping and left Dad and Coen home alone.  With a camera.
It's safe to say that the boys had a lot of fun while Mom was gone.
Probably too much fun.
