It actually started the night before when Steve went outside. He wasn't tied up, but usually does fine that way. There is another German Shorthair a couple of houses down from us, and the two of them love playing around in the backyard.

Unfortunately, they must have been playing a bit rough that night and Steve came to the door unable to walk on that leg. We expected it to get better as the night progressed, but he absolutely refused to put weight on it and would cry in pain when he was trying to lay down and get comfortable.
Then, in the middle of the night Matt woke up not feeling well and ended up with the stomach flu. I was concerned about Coen. He certainly doesn't need two sick parents right now!
At about 6 yesterday morning, we decided that I should come to Lincoln for some help since Steve was going to need to get to a vet, and Matt was going to be completely out of commission.
As I got ready to get on the interstate, they re-directed traffic to another highway due to an accident. Traffic was barely moving and the ride that should have taken an hour took a little more than two.

My mom met me at the vet and stayed in the car with Coen while I dealt with Steve and finally later that morning Coen and I made it to my dad and Jodell's. I received a call from the vet about Steve and she didn't have good news. He tore his ACL but due to the issues he already has with his hip, they weren't sure that surgery would be an option. At one point she mentioned that putting him to sleep might have to be discussed. The bad news actually didn't end there and the day just couldn't have been worse.
Thankfully today is a new day!!! Coen is happy and Steve is hobbling around this morning, but doesn't appear to be in any pain.
Matt is feeling better and is back at work today. Coen and I really miss him.
Hopefully one of the worst days is behind us. Matt and I wondered last night what God was teaching us, or trying to get our attention about. We both feel like we forget to rely on Him and try to do everything ourselves. Yesterday taught us that we just can't. We are powerless but we have a relationship with a God who thankfully, is not. I pray that we continue to trust in Him as we desire to raise our son to love Him and trust Him as well.
Thanks for reading. Talk to you soon!

I am soooo sooooooo SORRY.. what a miserable day :( We're here if you guys or Steve needs ANYTHING!! Keep us updated!
